Assessments and Diagnosis
Referrals for assessment and diagnosis for mental health or learning challenges can be accessed through a doctor or pediatrician. If you do not have a doctor or if services are limited in your community, contact your local health centre.
Additional services such as audiology or occupational therapy can be accessed through the Department of Health Rehabilitation Services.
In-Home Care and Respite Service
In-home care such as personal care (i.e. grooming and dressing), respite care (i.e. providing care assistance to family members) and rehabilitation services can be accessed through the Department of Health. Contact your local health centre or call (867) 975-5776 or (867) 975-5709.

Income Support and Disability Benefits
Extra cash benefits such as Incidental Allowance can be accessed through a local income assistance office. Disability tax credits, as well as other disability benefits can be accessed through your local Service Canada office.
Workplace and Training
Wage subsidies, on the job training and workplace supports such as job coaches can be accessed through local pre-employment programs, Family Services or Kakivak.

Special Education
Students in Nunavut schools can have access to a regular educational program with accommodations through their school or an Individualized Education Program depending on needs. Contact the school for more information.
Accessibility Equipment
Accessibility equipment such as wheelchairs and vision aids can potentially be covered under the Non-Insured Health Benefits program. Please call Health Canada at 1-888-332-9222 ext. 3 for more information.
