Article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, states the right to choose residency on an equal basis with others, however institutionalization is still enforced due to isolation, segregation, and lack of control or decision-making. This article focuses on issues of institutionalization in the province of Nova Scotia.
